Dungeons & Dragons (D&D or DnD for short) is the best-known pen-and-paper role-playing game in the world.

It is played together at a table with pens, paper, and special dice. Each participant takes on the role of a self-created hero—such as a brave warrior or a clever magician.

One person takes on the role of the game master (also known as the Dungeon Master). He is the narrator, referee, and director all in one. The game master describes the environment and controls the opponents, while the players respond to these situations and decide what their characters do. Whether actions such as a sword fight or a jump over a chasm succeed is determined by the rules combined with a dice roll.

Teamwork, solving puzzles, and collaboratively creating an epic story are at the forefront.

Call of Cthulhu is a role-playing game based on the works of horror author H. P. Lovecraft.

Unlike many other role-playing games, participants do not take on the roles of invincible heroes, but rather of ordinary people such as journalists, detectives, or scientists.

As investigators, the characters are confronted with the so-called 'Cthulhu Mythos'—a hidden world full of cosmic horrors, unimaginable monsters, and sinister cults. Since open combat usually ends fatally, the focus is on solving puzzles, research, and survival. A central game element is mental stability: the sight of the unspeakable gradually drives the characters to madness. The rules use an intuitive, percentage-based system.

The adventure is led by a 'Keeper.' Most stories take place in America during the 1920s.
